|Management of teacher performance is a comprehensive tool that assists managers in monitoring and evaluating their employees' work. Teachers and managers benefit from having a formal performance-management system in place because it helps them communicate effectively the expectations, goals, and career progression, as well as how their work contributes to the overall vision of Vinschool.

At Vinschool, we take advantage of the benefits of the Classroom Observation Tool (COT). It is a formative assessment tool used in the classroom setting and compiles a list of teaching behaviours that have been identified as contributing to high-quality instruction. After gathering this information, the HoDs work with their teachers to devise goals for improving these instructional strategies.
Your department’s HoDs are responsible for orienting you with our school’s COT.

As teachers of Vinschool, you should expect to be formally observed 4 times in one academic year, with the first two observations typically taking place within the first semester. Observations assist in establishing a baseline and are useful in developing goals and providing support moving forward. Observations are supported with a timely feedback session with your HoDs.

Overview of Support Systems & Terminology

Support systems are already in place at Vinschool and in fact, our ESL Task Force who work directly with our ESL Director, can be contacted for academic support in terms of instructional practices, syllabi and assessment. However, the people in charge for other work-related assistance vary from campus to campus.

Our workplace support system at Vinschool is primarily composed of people within your departments such as your HoDs. We also have Teacher Assistants and Teaching Assistants in the office who can help you with any supplies you need or connect you with IT for support. We understand that the motivations of teachers to perform and excel in their instructional practice, preparation or delivery should be taken into consideration by support strategies, which include tools and equipment, as well as other necessary resources at their disposal. Please ask your HoDs for advice on such kind of support.

Professional Development

Professional development can take many forms, such as online courses, training events, or seminars. It is in these engagements where teachers can improve their abilities and, as a result, improve student outcomes.

TRAINING & OUR EXPECTATIONS

Information on this section can be found in our LMS for Teacher Training. It contains training modules that you are expected to complete all throughout the academic year. These course modules will be updated anytime to provide you with the latest insights and to offer you a more satisfying experience while learning them online.

You are expected to complete at least one module, at an average of 4 engagement hours, once a month. Completing them online is equivalent to coming in one Saturday morning in a month for in-house professional development training and/or seminars.

YOUR IDP

At the start of each school year, teachers are required to develop their own professional development plan which must include at least one objective that is explicitly linked to the school's principles and objectives. The IDP's primary objective is to assist you in continuously acquiring new knowledge and skills and ultimately achieving your short- and long-term career goals.

Your IDP is your choice as long as it supports the school's mission, goals, and objectives. As such, IDP is an integral part of Vinschool’s formal performance management program, which focuses on identifying, coaching, and investing in current and future development needs of its teachers.

Your campus’ HoD will tell you more about your IDP, and will advise you on how to successfully complete your proposed personal academic challenge you have targeted for yourself.
