For our existing students, formative and summative assessment data is used to inform student progression recommendations and we have policies and procedures in place to support less proficient learners, and to fast track students exceeding progression expectations.
Learners develop their English proficiency through study of a range of topics that increase intercultural awareness and promote engagement with global issues, as well as exploration of learners’ own culture and local context. 
In line with the CEFR,  learning outcomes for each Stage are defined in terms of what learners should be able to do in English.  Our focus on skill development also supports the development of a range of social and emotional competencies associated with confident and effective communication in English.


Campus Boards of Directors are asked to follow the procedures outlined in the sections below, and to consult with their campus Primary ESL Head of Department and Primary ESL Coordinator if further guidance on placement and progression is required.

Our Primary ESL Standard syllabi support an integrated approach to planning and teaching to develop effective communication skills in English.

Learners develop their English proficiency through study of a range of topics that increase intercultural awareness and promote engagement with global issues, as well as exploration of learners’ own culture and local context.

In line with the CEFR, learning outcomes for each Stage are defined in terms of what learners should be able to do in English. Our focus on skill development also supports the development of a range of social and emotional competencies associated with confident and effective communication in English.
