ABOUT VINGROUP

Vingroup, formerly known as Technocom Corporation, was founded in 1993 in Ukraine. In the early 2000s, Vingroup started in Vietnam with two key brands: Vincom and Vinpearl. In January 2012, Vinpearl JSC merged with Vincom JSC to form Vingroup Joint Stock Company.

Vingroup is one of the biggest private conglomerates in Asia with a market capitalization value of around US $16 billion. As a multi-sector corporation, Vingroup focuses on three main areas:

Vingroup continues to pioneer and lead consumer trends in each of its businesses introducing Vietnamese consumers to a brand new, modern life-style with international-standard products and services. ABOUT VINSCHOOL EDUCATION SYSTEM

Vinschool is a not-for-profit K-12 education system, operating under and funded by its parent company, Vingroup. The objective of Vinschool is to build a Vietnamese school with international standards, a place where we accomplish our mission of “nurturing talents”.

In addition to infrastructural investment, Vinschool also receives significant funding from Vingroup in building a core of quality teacher and robust educational program. This fosters a generation of capable, dynamic, and civic-minded Vietnamese citizens who can join with the larger global community and be an ambassador to Vietnamese traditions and values.

After more than 7 years in operation since its 2013 founding, Vinschool has become the largest education system in Vietnam with 35 campuses in Vietnam, located in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hai Phong City, serving more than 30,000 students. Vinschool has taken on a pioneering position in reforming education in Vietnam, both in curriculum and philosophy.

Vinschool students, or “Vinsers”, are equipped with not only knowledge and academic skills but also leadership and critical thinking skills, admirable characteristics and attitudes, to become global citizens with a strong Vietnamese cultural identity and pride.

In service of our mission to nurture talents, Vinschool has established the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Center in 2018. The GATE Center provides each gifted or talented student a personalized enrichment program in an ideal environment where their talents are nurtured and they can maximize their potential. These special programs are fully funded by Vingroup.

Vinschool teachers are continuously trained by the world’s leading education experts in accordance with the US education standards to improve their professional qualifications and keep their pedagogical thinking up to date with the international demands.

So far, Vinschool has been awarded twice by the Ministry of Education and Training for our contribution to education reform, which is an honor unique to Vinschool. Additionally, Vinsers have made a name through achieving many awards in both national and international competitions or scholarships from world-famous universities.

Being the largest school system in Vietnam and a leader in education reform in Vietnam, Vinschool is taking steady steps to prepare its students to help them meet the changing and challenging requirements of the future.

ATTENDANCE POLICIES

Attendance Policy - Work Hours

• Work Hours 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday -Friday; 1 hour lunch break/day

• School Management can adjust as required; total hours remain the same

• ~20 Teaching hours per week

• If below 20 hours, School Managers can assign other duties

• Average of 4 hours outside work time/month

• For ANY time expected to work outside normal hours – must notify expat teachers 7 days in advance minimum

• Arrive Late – Leave Early: Approval from line manager (verified monthly by HR)

• Leaving campus during workday: – Approval of line manager – Must be reachable and able to return within 10 minutes

• Unapproved, excessive, prolonged lunch hours – Warning notice for unauthorized absence

• Check-in/Check-out: Fingerprint as all Employees

Leave Requests

Leave Requests - Line Manager Approval

• Cannot be taken before or after holiday or other paid days off
• Sick Leave – only paid if must have doctor’s note
• Employees allowed unpaid leave if approved, but be aware: – 5 days/month; 20 days/year: legal termination according to Labor Law
• Unapproved leave – unpaid and disciplinary action
• Expat HR will make Leave Request Forms in English available to expat staff

Attendance Policy – Online

In such cases where teachers are required to teach online:

• Logged-in, prepared to teach at least 10 minutes before lessons
• Being late for online lessons is not acceptable, just as face-to-face
• Must teach all required lessons to be paid full salary
• Must complete all required reports and other duties
• Be available during work hours when not teaching
• May need to cover lessons or other duties assigned
• Managers need to know you can be relied on when needed

Attendance Policy- Saturday

• On an average of 04 hours per month, teacher may be asked to come to school Saturday mornings or weekday evenings outside of normal work hours for school events, parent/teacher conferences or training activities.

• Notice of at least 01 week shall be given if teachers are required to attend work in such cases.
• Such times will not be counted as overtime for payment purposes.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The most common policy within an organization is a code of conduct. The policies below lay out Vinschool’s principles, standards, and the moral and ethical expectations that teachers are expected to practice and/or enact.

Appearance

• Neat
• Well-kempt
• Clothing in good repair
• Good personal hygiene

Expat Dress Code – Females

• Dresses and skirts: dark color, safety and easy for moving, length must fall to knee
• Long pants/trousers: dark color, length must fall to the ankle
• Shirts: sleeved shirts with collar, white or simple color
• Shoes and sandals: office shoes, dark color, maximum 5 cm height, closed toe
• Jewelry: maximum 4 pieces: earrings – short & small, watch, wedding ring, simple necklace
• Make up: simple, natural & light

Expat Dress Code – Males

• Shirts: sleeved shirts with collar, white or simple color
• Dark Tie
• Trousers: dark color, length must fall to the ankle
• Black shoes and dark socks
• Facial Hair: clean-shaven or well-kempt mustache & beard
• Hair: short cut & natural color
• Jewelry: watch and wedding ring are acceptable

Dress Code – Forbidden

• No exposed body piercing or tattoos
• No see-through material for clothes, no jeans
• No sport shoes for non-PE teachers, slippers, or flip-flops
• No unnatural hair colors

Name Tags

• Teachers, education experts must wear name tags/employee cards during work time
• Temporary or Part Time Employees without name tags/employee card shall wear a temporary tag during work time
• Purpose: Safety - Security - Convenience for other employees

Security – Safety – Maintenance

• Fingerprint scan to enter and exit work area & name tag
• Keep Environment Clean – classrooms, hallways, teacher rooms
• No Drugs/Alcohol before or during work
• No Smoking on School grounds. Must move far from school gates, out of sight of students

HOW TO COMMUNICATE

A communication channel is a tool that allows you to convey your message. These include electronic communications, written communications, and face-to-face contact. For official bulletins, notices and announcements, our official outlook e-mail is used. Each department can also communicate in various platforms for swift connection such as workplace or Zalo app. Here at Vinschool, face-to-face contact with your co-workers is preferred whenever possible, since it builds trust and leaves less room for error in how your message will be interpreted.
