This section will help you understand the course progression of the program offered by Vinschool Kindergarten  which are found below.

Levels and Course Progression

  • Kindergarten Standard Program (Kitty - Stage 1)
  • Kindergarten Advanced Program (Kitty- Pre-Stage 2)

The curriculum framework is a planning tool. The learning standards within it are designed to promote progression in learning from Toddler Stage to Stage 1 and onwards into Primary. It enables development of knowledge, understanding and skills through a spiral approach: by revisiting and engaging with topics and skills at deeper levels and in different contexts across the stages.

The tables below contain examples of learning standards which show how development of knowledge, understanding and skills progresses across the stages, but access to the full text will provide you with more comprehensive details on the learning standards and the scheme of work. You can find a copy of the Kindergarten ESL curriculum framework here.

Levels

The Curriculum Framework of Cambridge International Education is adopted by Vinschool and it provides a comprehensive set of learning standards for our Pooh and Alvin ESL classes and guidance to write learning standards for early years framework. The Kindergarten ESL curriculum framework is designed for children aged 18 months old to 6 years old. Whether it is in the Standard or Advanced program, learners are divided into 5 age groups:

Level Program Applied
6 Levels Kitty Advanced & Standard
Nemo Advanced & Standard
Bambi Advanced & Standard
Pre-Stage 1 Pooh Standard
Stage 1 Pooh Advanced/Alvin Standard
Pre-Stage 2 Alvin Advanced/Cambridge

The learning standards in the curriculum framework provide a structure for teaching and learning. They also provide a reference for checking learners’ development of knowledge, understanding and skills.

In Kitty and Nemo level classes, the learning standards are divided into 3 main areas of learning called ‘strands’: Listening, Speaking and Reading.

From Bambi to Pre-Stage 2 levels, The learning standards are divided into strands which run through every stage: Reading, Writing, Use of English, Listening and Speaking.

You can find a copy of the subject document detailing the learning and teaching approaches of reference, the progression in learning, and an example of the scheme of work here.
