Training can be organized at different levels: department level, campus level, and system level.


Department-level training

  • The training is hosted by the Head of Department, teachers, or external experts depending on the needs of the department.
  • It is applicable to all members of the department.
  • The Head of Department identifies specific professional development needs through surveys, interviews or observations and then prepares the training content based on teachers’ needs.
  • Teachers are supposed to apply what they learn from the training in their teaching practices and self-assess or reflect on the effectiveness of the application.
  • The Head of Department monitors and evaluates how teachers apply what they learn from the training in their teaching and the scope of effects it has to determine what kind of support should be provided next.


Campus-level training

  • The training is hosted by the School Board, a delegated staff member or invited external speakers/experts.
  • It is applicable to all members of the school.
  • The training contents are various, such as the introduction to a new teaching and learning approach or instructional strategy that the School Board would like all staff members to apply, the clarification and explanation of a new policy, instructions on how to work and collaborate effectively with different offices of the school, etc.
  • Teachers are required to act accordingly after the training and the Head of Department takes responsibility for monitoring their department member’s performance.


System-level training

  • The training is hosted by the System Leaders, Program Coordinators, delegated School Board or staff members, or invited external experts.
  • It is applicable to all members of the system.
  • The training contents focus on what will be applied system-wide, such as an overview of the curriculum, presentation of teaching and learning approaches which will be the focus of the school year, instruction on how to implement the program, clarification of new policies and working procedures, etc.
  • Teachers are required to act accordingly after the training and the School Board and Head of Department take responsibility for monitoring their teachers’ performance.
